Borrow from another library
Our library is connected to other libraries throughout the state and nation. If you can't find an item in this library, ask library staff to help you get it from another library.
Our library buys books and materials that we think are most wanted by our community. Because of limited resources and space we can’t buy everything that is published, but we can usually get it from another library. This is called interlibrary loan. Our library is part of a vast network of participating libraries that are willing to loan out materials to other libraries. We use SILO Interlibrary Loan to borrow items from other Iowa Libraries, and OCLC Interlibrary Loan is used to borrow items from libraries throughout the United States and other countries.
If we don’t have the book, CD, DVD, video or magazine that you are looking for, ask the staff to get it for you from another library. Most of the items are delivered to our library in 4-7 days. The loan periods vary according to the policy of the lending library. The staff will inform you of the loan period when you pick up the item.
Is there a fee? Yes, we do charge a minimal fee of $2 per item to help defray the cost of postage. The fee is due when the item is picked up. If the lending library charges fees to send the requested materials it will be the patron's responsibility to pay these fees. If a patron chooses not to pick up their request they will still be charged any postage fee due.
